Initially I wasn’t going to have a videographer at our wedding….I thought we could do without and I am genuinely so grateful that I changed my mind as I was completely wrong!! I was concerned that a camera poking at my face all day would stress me (I am not great at getting my photo taken and being on camera). However, Rob at Curious Robin films made the experience so calm and unobtrusive, I hardly realised I was being filmed which made the experience all so easy and comfortable.

Our wedding video still has me in tears almost 4 years later, every single time I watch it. After all the planning and organising we went through to get it right, Rob really captured the essence of our day in a way that no photograph could. With the perfect choice of music and even the details like using the old vintage camera. Every time I watch it I feel like I’m transported back to that day and experiencing it all over again and for that exact reason, I just can’t recommend Curious Robin Films highly enough.

Natalie & Ross had the most wonderful Edinburgh Wedding, with the bride getting ready at Princes St Suites, the ceremony held in St Patrick’s Church on the Cowgate and the reception at Prestonfield House.

Tell us about your day; what were your expectations, how did you feel, how did it all go?

Our wedding day was beyond our expectations. The day started on a high with the boys watching the Lions vs the all blacks, while the girls and I drank lots of fizz and got pampered! The morning flew by, in fact the whole day did! It’s true what they say, you really do blink and it’s over but it was the most perfect day filled with so much love and one jumping dance floor!

How did you meet and become engaged?

We met in the fine establishment that is Fingers Piano bar, and fell in love over sushi and our love of a good party.
Ross proposed the day we picked up the keys to our first home together. He dropped to one knee in our living room, starting our new life together engaged! It was so romantic I’ll remember that day forever.

Where did you find inspiration for your wedding?

We knew we wanted a summer wedding (had to be out with rugby season!) and I love pink. Our florist Planet Flower are unbelievably talented, so I would say it was a mix of inspo from their past weddings, and tying in personal touches like the flower flags and rugby cake topper.

Why did you choose your venue/s?

As soon as we walked into the stables at Prestonfield we knew it was the perfect venue for us. We knew we wanted an Edinburgh based venue, and ideally everything in the one room to really keep the party going. The unique decor combined with the fairy lights, not to mention the stunning lawn with Arthur’s seat as the backdrop, it was an easy decision. We also knew our Band had played there many times which gave us a lot of confidence in knowing it would be a great atmosphere!

Why did to choose to have a video of your day

When we first started looking at the budget, like many couples, we started to think can we afford a videographer? Do we need one? But after speaking to previous brides and grooms the one thing that kept coming up was the ones that didn’t have one completely regretted it. And now being on the other side, we couldn’t be more pleased that we decided to have one. The day was a complete blur, and there’s just no way we could take it all in on the day.  We love our highlight video because it really captures the entire vibe of the day, and all the little things we would have otherwise missed. We can’t wait to see the full video and re live the whole day with friends and family, especially the speeches!!!

What was your favourite part in your highlight film?

Hands down Ross’s Speech. It was such a special moment and it’s absolutely priceless being able to see all the emotions. I cry every time I watch it!

Any tips for future Brides and Grooms?

Do it your way! Everyone has an opinion along the way and it can be hard to keep focused on what you both want. Keep true to you and you’ll have the most perfect day that truly reflects you as a couple. And second, get a videographer!! Rob was like some sort of videographer ninja, we hardly saw him but he captured all those special moments every bride and groom wants from their day. You won’t regret it.

Any unexpected moments?

I think one that sticks out for us both was we had a piano player out on the lawn for the drinks reception who was from the piano bar we met. After a few drinks people from different groups of friends gathered around the piano and started a full on sing song! It was absolutely amazing and was so nice to see everyone having a great time together.
