After hours of searching through wedding videos online, we settled up-on Curious Robin Films to video our wedding in December 2016 and we could not be more happy with our choice! Rob is an absolute professional and takes serious pride in what he does. From our initial meeting, the relaxed way he and the other videographer made us feel on the day, right through to receiving the end product (which was wonderfully packaged!), things could not have been better!

The production quality of the final product far surpassed our hopes and expectations, Rob really managed to capture the day and every emotion. We watched so many other wedding videographers videos that just seem to offer ‘generic’ videos. You can really tell the difference when it comes to Curious Robin Films, just watch some and see.

Again, thanks so much to Rob and his team, we loved re-watching our special day and will cherish our wedding video for years to come.

Money where my mouth is // my own wedding film

My job is to convince people to commission us to capture their wedding, at no small cost to them. Perhaps it would help them to know that I am not a hypocrite by sharing my wedding film. Today is my wife and I’s fifth wedding anniversary. Before I waffle on, I ought to just state […]

Would you like to invest in one of our limited edition wedding films? We have decided to close off bookings for 2018 soon. 2019 is filling up fast and 2020 is already taking enquiries. Our philosophy is to do no more than 15 weddings per year and preferably slightly less, in order to ensure that […]

We take our time

We take our time

One thing we often see advertised and truly marvel at the ability of companies to produce are same day edits. The idea of filming a wedding, which usually finished for me at 10pm, then in a dazed state sitting down and sifting 2 x full days of footage, and bringing that to some sort of […]

The highlight of highlights – Wedding Film “reel”

We’ve been in the process of separating all the non-wedding content out of this site (our new commercial brand is Simmerdim – go check it out) and last to be updated is the first thing anyone sees – our highlight banner reel. We’re not really into creating a showreel for the wedding company, as we […]

Wedding Highlight Films – the main event, not an afterthought

Our wedding package is built around the wedding highlight films. 5-ish minutes in length, they are far harder and more time consuming than any other part. French mathematician and philosopher Blaise Pascal wrote in 1657; Je n’ai fait celle-ci plus longue que parce que je n’ai pas eu le loisir de la faire plus courte. […]

Getting technical with wedding film aesthetics

Getting technical with wedding film aesthetics

Posted by on Feb 21, 2018 in General Chat | No Comments

This week we’ve been diving into the technicalities of our wedding film aesthetics. As you’ll know from our previous post, we’ve just upgraded to a new camera. The Sony a7sii is more capable than the Canon DSLRs we shot with in many areas but one novel one is its dynamic range and picture profiles. We […]

Continual reinvestment in our product – new camera

Exciting times as we upgrade to a new camera for our wedding film services. When people take the cost of wedding videography at face value they often find it very expensive. Yet, when considered that it may take up to two weeks to full edit a wedding and we also have all our own business […]

New wedding highlight film – Gerry & Clare’s Edinburgh Wedding

Posted by on Feb 12, 2018 in Weddings | No Comments

Monday morning and we’ve a new wedding highlight film to share with you. Gerry & Clare got married in St Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh followed by a reception at Shieldhill Castle, near Biggar, in the Scottish Borders. It’s probably one of the most logistically difficult weddings I’ve ever had to shoot, but that was a by-product […]

Wedding films – what does a second shooter do?

Wedding films – what does a second shooter do?

Posted by on Jan 31, 2018 in Weddings | No Comments

You’ll see it on our contracts and in general chat, but the term second shooter seems a bit vague. In fact, prior to commencing upon a career in filmmaking, the term second shooter would most likely conjure up conspiracy theories about the assassination of JFK. Thankfully, its a lot less dramatic than that. No grassy […]
